MARIO BALLOCCO (Milan 1913-2008)

1935-39 He studies painting with Aldo Carpi in Brera (Milan).
1947 He performs in Argentina with Lucio Fontana and Emilio Pettoruti.
1949-52 He starts and directs, in Milan, the review "A-Z Arte d'oggi", supporting the reasons of abstractionism, colour rational functions and industrial aesthetics.
1950-51 In the 9th issue of "A-Z" in November 1950 he promotes and defines the program of Gruppo Origine, he takes part to, together with Alberto Burri, Giuseppe Capogrossi and Ettore Colla, accepting this program. In the 11th issue of "A-Z" in April 1951 he announce the dissolution of the Group.
1952-53 He organizes, at the International Fair in Milan, the First and Second Show of Industrial Design in Italy and the First Storic Show of Photograph. He starts the experimental analysis in the scientific area of chromatic objectivity, not related to conventional art.
1953-59 He is advisor for Industrial Aestetics for the Ente Fiera in Milan.
1954 He perforrms in Milan his first application of a study on the chromatic function on the working environments of the firm Safama Giommi.
1957-61 He starts and directs in Milan the quarterly review "Colore/estetica e logica"(Colour/aesthetic and logic), by which he creates the problem of perceptive phenomenology and elaborates, as an instrument of analythic co-ordination for the operativity of visual logic, the intedisciplinary methodology that he names Cromathology.
1958 With the patronage of the Ente Fiera of Milan, he organizes the First Show of Colour at the Museum of the Science in Milan, articulating it in preliminary sections (physics, physiology, psicology) and experimental (healing, studying, working ambients and so on).
1970-74 He introduces, enrolling his teaching activity, the subject of Chromatology in the "Carrara" Academies in Bergamo and in Brera in Milan.
1988-91 He teaches Chromatology at the Faculty of Architecture in Milan.
